Eragon

Hello!

One morning, after staying up late the past night, finishing reading my current book, Eragon I realized something. An answer to a thought that's been bothering me for the past weeks. The thought;
"I have no one to talk with about books".
I know other people who like to read, and who read more than me. But I don't really know anyone that likes the same books as me.

Being a very emotional person, I sometimes just get this urge, or craving if you will, to talk with someone. It's not just an urge really, it's a need. I feel like I have so many emotions going on and I just have to share my thoughts with someone else. Currently I just blabber on about characters, environments, languages to anyone who's willing to listen, I don't really care that they don't have a clue what I'm on about I just talk to share some of my feelings.

So, if I'm to get to the point. The thought that occurred to me,  is that if I write reviews I can share my feelings and thoughts on the books I read to people that are interested and I won't have to ask people I know to read the same books as me!

Brilliant.

This might seem very obvious to you. but i haven't really written any reviews ever. The thought of me writing book reviews just seemed so.. weird I suppose? I guess it's a scary thought since I'm not very sure of what I'm doing, but I am sure that I want to share my thoughts with others and this just seems like a great way to do it. And so, I'm going to right here, with the book that is freshest in my mind. Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. Please do note that I read this in Swedish, so there's some differences in language and apparently also the cover is done by a different artist.

My initial thought when I opened up the book was "this is going to be good" when I saw the map. I don't think I've ever read a book with a map with the beginning that hasn't been good. You are free to prove me wrong, but I'm going to stick with this map theory for as long as I can! Anyways, throughout the first chapters I had a really cozy feeling. Especially the environments are beautifully written and I could easily imagine the world where Eragon took place.

Now, I'm going to try to share my thoughts with you without actually spoiling any of the story. For the most part of the book, Eragon, (the character, not the book) bothered me a bit. The way he made decisions and his thoughts often seemed oblivious to me and I felt like I couldn't understand him . But then something changed. I think I realized that Eragon meant well in the things he did, but he was simply not used to his new life and therefore sometimes couldn't make the right decisions. At the later part of the book you can sense that something in Eragon has changed, he's more mature, smarter and stronger. And when I realized that, I also realized that Eragon after all was just a normal boy who went on a journey and I got to be a part of his journey, both in a sense of journey as in adventure and as in a journey of maturing. And I am glad I got to be a part of it, even if I didn't realize it at first. I often caught myself sighing over Eragons decisions and even if I got annoyed sometimes I still couldn't quite bring myself to putting the book down. There was still something very special about Eragon.

Even though I've established that I grew fond of Eragon throughout the book, I still had a feeling that this book was mainly targeted for teenage male readers, which probably was why I couldn't relate as much to Eragon as I maybe would've wanted. But I don't think that has to be something bad, I enjoyed the book so I'm guessing that if you're a male teenager reading Eragon you'd enjoy it even more. I also think that it might have something to do with the fact that the author actually was a male teenager when he wrote the book, which, I think, could really emphasize the chance of young male readers relating even more to Eragon. This is of course just a thought.

Before wrapping things up, I'd like to say that I very much enjoyed the languages featured in Eragon. I especially enjoyed 'the old language' because, I might be wrong here, but I do think that it has some inspiration in the nordic languages. There's some words that are quite similar to words in Swedish and I thought it was neat. But then again, I might be wrong. However, to summarize things, I did enjoy Eragon even though we had some rough times. The languages and environments are impressive to me and to think how young the author was when he wrote this is even more impressive.  I'd like to say more things about the environments but I only know what they're called in Swedish and I'm a very awkward translator and will not embarrass myself right now.

It felt pretty good to write about my reading experience and I do hope that I will keep this up. Does this mean that I am not blogging about clothing anymore? No. I actually have a post planned, but I just can't seem to get the light right in my photos (a rhyme!). It is a work in progress however and I do hope that it will be posted soon.

Best wishes,
Melly

Rävar

Hello!

Today I have a short update with what I'm currently working on and a new addition to my brooch collection. I actually have several additions to my collection, but I haven't found a good outfit for the other brooch so I'm saving that for later.

A couple of weeks ago I posted a photo of a fox dress I finished which I was determined to match with The Leaping Fox pin from Mulberry Chronicles!

The plan right now is to wear it with my fox dress and a orange colored cardigan with a fur trim that I'm working on right now. It seems a little odd to wear fur trim with a fox themed outfit, but it's faux (of course) so I suppose it's fine. I'm pretty close to finishing my cardigan and hopefully it will turn out great! Currently I'm also working on my halloween outfit, which will be a femme fatale-looking dress with a cobweb-fabric I found recently which I am also hoping for. I chose a femme fatale look this time because It's very rare for me to dress in that way and it might be fun to try it out.

More photos to come!

Äpplen

Hello!

And so, once again it's been quite a while since I made a post. Maybe I should just accept the fact that I'm a really slow person and stop apologizing for not posting as often? It would be nice to not start a blog post with an apology once in a while. The other option would of course be to actually make more posts. But I find myself lacking enough relevant topics to actually make a good post. I've been thinking about writing reviews or discussions about new releases from brands I'm fond of, but I'm uncertain if that actually would make a good read. I would love to post more coords but I lack time and money to make coord-posts more often. Hopefully I will get an idea of something else to write about aswell.

Now, to get to the point. My last post was a fabric post and I am glad to announce that I've made two dresses! One of them was photographed today, the other one I haven't quite found the right outfit for, I'm still working on the details. I am still very pleased with the results and I think they both turned out pretty cute and fitting for fall.

Cardigan from LIEF, bag from Angelic Pretty, brooch from Mulberry Chronicles and the rest is offbrand. Right now I'm working on another project for halloween and I've just ordered a wig to go along with the outfit. I'm pretty excited and I hope it will turn out as I want it to.  More on that later!

Äpplen och Rävar

Hello!

So, school is still keeping me rather busy, I'm making art for a surrealist point and click game at the moment and it is pretty time consuming. For some reason, I don't know why really, I decided to pick up another project aswell in my regular art style. But why stop there? I am also currently working on dresses for this autumn, which brings me to the topic of this post.

Prints!

Right now I'm working on a dress in the apple print, and will most likely do a similar one with the fox print. I'm thinking of pairing the apple print with lovely dark red colours and the fox print with earthy browns. Hopefully, my project will be a success. I don't own a sewing machine so I'm sewing everything by hand and it's pretty time consuming aswell, but hopefully they will atleast be ready for autumn.

I'm going to keep this post short and sweet and finish with a photo of a tea flower I recently bought. Looking forward to trying out different kinds, even though, this one was really beautiful.

Garderob

Hello!
It's been quite a while since I made a post, I've been kind of busy. I recently came home from being away all summer and it took some time to settle in with my own apartment and actually having to do chores instead of laying in front of my computer eating ice cream all day (that still regularly happens too though). It feels kinda nice to be back in a smaller town though, I like the local shops and I definitely like the fact that everything is within a 20 minute (or less) walking radius. I visited our local tea/coffee shop today and was thrilled to find a sencha tea with pear/ginger flavour! Pear is one of my favorite flavours of all time and I've been wanting to try sencha for a long time. I also found a box of strawberry chocolates, with an Alphonse Mucha motif, which I had to buy. I also got a tiny, adorable bottle of concentrated cloudberry juice! A very successful day of shopping indeed.

My intention with this post, however, was not to tell you about what kind of tea I buy (it's also peach/mango and blue fruit by the way), but actually to compensate for the lack of posts recently. I don't have a huge collection (yet..) but I thought I'd make my very first wardrobe post! Starting of with my lolita dresses.

Blouses
The ones in the back are from Emily Temple Cute, the dark brown one is from an indie brand I cannot remember, it might have been Dear Celine, but I really don't know and the last one is from Captain Meow on Etsy if I remember correctly.

Skirts
Royal Chocolate Skirt by Angelic Pretty, to the right
Sweet Parfait Mini Skirt by Jane Marple, to the left

Cutsews, both from Emily Temple Cute

Cardigans, the left one is from LIEF and the right one is from Angelic Pretty.

I only own one jacket so far, I hope to get another one before autumn really starts. This one is from Innocent World.

Bags
Starting from the left, the white book is from an indie brand but I cannot recall which one, the biscuit one is from Angelic Pretty, the one in the back is also from Angelic Pretty and the one in the front is offbrand.

Hats
Okay so these are almost entirely either offbrand or indie brand, a part from the beige pom pom beret which is from Innocent World and the tiny straw hat which is from Angelic Pretty.

Shoes
These are also all either indie brand or offbrand, a part from the black glitter shoes in the middle which I think is from Baroque.

That's my humble little wardrobe. I'm looking forward to making another one later on to see how my collection changes and grows. I'm trying to start focusing on a colour scheme for my wardrobe for easier matches, right now it isn't very coherent. That's all for now!
